The University of Connecticut Department of Art and Art History seeks an Assistant Professor of Art in Printmaking for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2023. The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus with the possibility of working at UConn’s regional campuses across the state. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will incorporate both traditional and emerging printmaking practices into their teaching. Responsibilities will include undergraduate printmaking courses, interdisciplinary foundation courses, graduate program seminars and advisory committee membership, as well as additional teaching that might serve the needs of the Department and/or reflect the candidate’s particular skills and interests. Ongoing excellence in creative work and professional activity will be required. Duties will also include service to the Department, the School, and the University. Typically, an assistant professor teaches five 3 credit classes, which may include drawing courses and graduate-level courses.
The Department of Art and Art History includes 23 faculty and offers the BA, BFA, and MFA degrees in Studio Art as well as the BA in Art History, and Minors in Studio Art and Art History. The Department takes an interdisciplinary and wide-ranging approach to studio practice and engages in collaborations across the University. Print shop facilities for intaglio, lithography, letterpress/book arts, and screen printing.

M.F.A. degree and at least two years of teaching experience beyond the graduate T.A.
Must be familiar with a range of conceptual and technical aspects of printmaking and also demonstrate a commitment to extended and interdisciplinary approaches.
An understanding of current art issues and studio practices.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in intaglio, lithography, relief, and screen printing techniques.
Experience managing a print shop, and skills to provide frequent technical support for the shop.
Candidates with additional abilities and interests in traditional drawing, working knowledge of varied digital applications (Adobe Suite, CAD for 3D printing and laser cutting), risograph, and/or letterpress are particularly encouraged to apply.
