Lawrence Art Center is excited to announce Celebrate Print, a Juried Print Exhibition. This exhibition will be held in conjunction with Lawrence Print Week and will be juried by LAC 2022-2023 Printmaking artist in residence Taro Takizawa and held at the Cider Gallery here in Lawrence, Kansas.
Celebrate Print is a celebration of printmaking, and in all its forms! All traditional print media is accepted this includes lithography, relief, intaglio, screen print, letter press, monotype and risograph. Non-tradition, Mixed media, digital printing, 3d and 4d works will be accepted as long as they highlight a traditional print media*
*4d works such as video and animation made with printmaking techniques will be considered on a case to case basis. No solely digital or photographic prints will be eligible. For more questions please contact Matthew@Lawrenceartscenter.org
ELIGIBILITY: Open to local, national and international artists 18 years or older. Works can not exceed 30″ in any direction (including frame), and all works should be exhibition ready.*
Taro Takizawa is an artist who focuses on printmaking, wall vinyl installations, drawings and 2D designs. He received his BFA with a printmaking emphasis from Central Michigan University in 2011, and an MFA in printmaking from Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2017.
ABOUT THE JUROR:
Born in Japan, he makes images connecting his experiences in Japan and the U.S. His works contain both western and eastern aesthetics with an appreciation of traditional printmaking processes and mark-making. He is fascinated with blending: the boundaries of contemporary studio practice and traditional processes, printmaking and installations, architecture and crafts, all influenced by traditional Japanese patterns from textile designs.
