Beth Grabowski
Beth Grabowski is an artist, author and educator. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she is the Kappa Kappa Gamma Distinguished Professor of Art where she has taught all manner of printmaking and book arts. She currently serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Studio Art program. Grabowski is past president of SGC International, a professional organization for print, paper and book artists, educators, collectors, and enthusiasts. Grabowski is co-author, with Bill Fick (Super G Print Lab/Duke University), of Printmaking, a Complete Guide to Materials and Processes, (Laurence King, 2009, 2014).
Beth Grabowski is the recipient of three North Carolina Arts Council awards and has been the beneficiary of several artist residencies including those at Sanbao Ceramics Institute (Jingdezhen, China), Frans Masereel Centrum (Kasterlee, Belgium), Tom Blaess Atelier (Bern, Switzerland), Proyecto ‘Ace (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and in 2023 at the Art Print Residence in Barcelona, Spain. Other professional activities include curating an international portfolio honoring Käthe Kollwitz, which debuted at the Kollwitz Museum-Berlin in September 2005, and co-organizing Visualizing Human Rights conferences at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008, 2010 and 2011 and 2012. Grabowski's work has been shown widely and is included in numerous public and private collections, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC, the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris, the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and the Guanlan Printmaking Museum, Shenzhen, China.
Beth lives in the woods just south of Chapel Hill in Chatham County, NC with her husband, Jim. They have two lovely adult children that they are very proud of.
